Professor Steven Jones is a Professor of Clinical Psychology and Co-Director of the Spectrum Centre for Mental Health Research at Lancaster University's Faculty of Health and Medicine. He holds leadership roles including Chair of the Divisional Research Committee and membership in the Faculty Research Committee. His research focuses on bipolar disorder and related conditions, emphasizing psychological treatments, personal recovery, and service user involvement. Key projects include the development of interventions like recovery-focused CBT and the Relatives Education And Coping Toolkit (REACT), funded by organizations such as NIHR and Canadian Institute for Health Research.
Professor Jones has contributed to NHS initiatives, including co-leading a bipolar disorder treatment demonstration site under the Improving Access to Psychological Therapies program. He is also part of the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) Guideline Development Group for bipolar disorder. His work spans clinical trials, qualitative research, and collaborations with international institutions.
Recent research includes studies on hypersexuality in bipolar disorder via social media analysis, caregiver support for psychosis/bipolar relatives, and suicide prevention interventions. He teaches across PhD and MSc programs in mental health and clinical psychology. Grants and collaborations highlight his commitment to improving mental health outcomes through multidisciplinary approaches and technology integration.
