Dr Jasper Palmier-Claus is a Senior Lecturer in Clinical Psychology at Lancaster University, affiliated with the Spectrum Centre for Mental Health Research and Lancaster Medical School. He also holds a clinical role at the Lancashire & South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust. His research focuses on treatments for psychosis, bipolar disorder, and suicidality, with an emphasis on addressing health inequities in mental health service provision.
He completed his BSc and MSc in Psychology at Bangor University, followed by a PhD and DClinPsy at the University of Manchester. Postdoctoral work included developing the ClinTouch smartphone app for psychosis monitoring. He previously led the Wigan Early Detection and Intervention Team and contributed to major trials like MAPS and COMPARE.
Current projects include leading two NIHR-funded trials: the Mental Imagery for Suicidality in Students Trial (MISST) and the Mouth Matters in Mental Health Trial, both addressing service access barriers. He also co-leads the IBPI trial, evaluating online parenting interventions for bipolar disorder patients. His research integrates clinical, educational, and public involvement to strengthen mental health infrastructure in Northwest England.
Key scientific contributions span oral health disparities in mental illness, mental imagery interventions for suicide prevention, and narrative analyses of aging with bipolar disorder. His work emphasizes transdisciplinary collaboration and patient-centered care.
