Steven Garwin

Steven Garwin is an Adjunct Research Fellow in the School of Earth and Oceans at The University of Western Australia. He holds external roles as Senior Technical Advisor at Aurania Resources, Chief Technical Advisor at Hot Chili Ltd., Technical Advisor at Japan Gold Corp., and Chief Technical Advisor at SolGold Plc. His expertise spans economic geology, porphyry copper-gold deposits, and hydrothermal systems.

Education: PhD in Economic Geology (University of Western Australia, 2001), MSc in Geology (University of British Columbia, 1987), BSc in Geology (Stanford University, 1984).

Research focuses on copper-gold porphyry exploration, hydrothermal systems, and geodynamic controls on ore deposits. Key regions of study include Indonesia (Batu Hijau district) and China (Qinling belt). His work bridges academia and industry, addressing exploration challenges in mining sectors.

Publications emphasize ore genesis, metallogenic provinces, and tectonic settings of world-class gold and copper deposits. Collaborations include studies on supergiant gold provinces and spatial-temporal distribution of economic minerals.
