معرفی
Dr. Ali Aluç is a faculty member at Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University, serving in the Department of Geological Engineering within the Faculty of Engineering. He holds a dual appointment in both the Department of Geological Engineering and the Ore Deposits-Geochemistry Department. His academic career spans teaching and research in economic geology, with a specific focus on ore deposit systems.
Dr. Aluç completed his educational journey at Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University, earning his Bachelor's degree in Geological Engineering (2009-2014), followed by a Master's degree in Geological Engineering from the Graduate School of Natural and Applied Sciences (2013-2017). He furthered his academic credentials with a dual doctorate: one from the University of Geneva (2017-2023) and another from Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University's Graduate School of Natural and Applied Sciences in Geological Engineering, completed in English (2017-2023).
Dr. Aluç's research focuses on economic geology, particularly epithermal gold-silver systems and porphyry copper deposits in Turkey. His work integrates geological mapping, geochemical analysis, geochronology, and hydrothermal alteration studies. He has extensively studied the Kirazlı district in the Biga Peninsula and the Öksüt deposit in Central Anatolia, examining the complex relationships between magmatic evolution and ore formation processes. His research employs advanced techniques including fluid inclusion studies, stable isotope geochemistry, and shortwave infrared spectrometry for alteration mapping.
His publication record demonstrates a strong focus on the metallogenic and magmatic evolution of epithermal and porphyry systems in Turkey. Recent work has particularly emphasized the superimposed nature of hydrothermal systems, where porphyry copper and epithermal gold-silver deposits occur in the same geological setting but formed during different stages of magmatic-hydrothermal evolution. His research provides critical insights into the timing and processes of ore formation in these complex systems.
- Doctoral Thesis Award (2024)
- Reviewer for Modeling Earth Systems and Environment (2025)
- Reviewer for Turkish Journal of Geosciences (2024)
Dr. Aluç teaches courses including Mineralogy and Petrography, Ore Deposits, Mineral Deposits, Geochemical Prospecting, Porphyry Copper Deposits, and Mineral Economics. He has secured funding for TÜBİTAK projects on the Öksüt epithermal gold deposit and Quaternary pyroclastic deposits on the Datça Peninsula. His international collaborations, particularly with the University of Geneva, reflect his standing in the global geological research community.
