معرفی
Thomas Monecke is a Professor in the Department of Geology and Geological Engineering at the Colorado School of Mines. His research focuses on metallogeny of volcanic arcs, hydrothermal ore deposits, and fluid-rock interactions. He teaches courses such as GEOL 513 (Hydrothermal Geochemistry) and GEOL 519 (Abitibi Geology Field School).
Education:
- PhD in Economic Geology, TU Bergakademie Freiberg, Germany (2003)
- MSc in Mineralogy, TU Bergakademie Freiberg, Germany (1996)
Research Interests:
Dr. Monecke explores the environmental and tectonic settings of ore deposits, particularly in volcanic arcs and Archean terranes. His work integrates fluid inclusion studies, microtextural analysis, and numerical modeling to understand hydrothermal systems. Recent projects include investigations into the formation mechanisms of epithermal gold deposits and porphyry copper systems.
Publications Trends:
His recent work emphasizes fluid dynamics in ore systems, such as fluid flashing in epithermal veins and CO₂ influences on quartz solubility. He has also contributed to studies of seafloor hydrothermal systems and the mineralogy of advanced argillic alteration zones.
Labs/Teams:
Involved in hyperspectral imaging research and collaborative projects on exploration technologies.
