معرفی
Professor Steven Dunn is a faculty member in the Department of Chemical and Energy Engineering at London South Bank University, where he serves as Professor of Materials Engineering and Associate Dean for Research and Enterprise. He also directs the Energy, Materials and Environment Research Centre (MADD) and leads the Energy Materials Engineering research group.
- PhD in Materials Science (Cambridge, 2001)
- BSc in Chemistry (Edinburgh)
His research focuses on functional ceramics and hybrid systems for energy applications, including:
- Carrier lifetime enhancement in metal oxides
- Surface modification of ferroelectric materials
- Carbonaceous nanostructured island formation
- Pyroelectric and piezocatalytic water splitting
Recent work highlights piezocatalysis as a novel pathway for sustainable fuel production, leveraging low-grade waste heat. Collaborations with Professor Chris Bowen (Bath) and Dr Haixue Yan (QMUL) have advanced pyroelectric hydrogen generation.
Scientific Recognition:
- Fellow of the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining
- Chartered Engineer (CEng)
- Queen Mary Researcher of the Year (2013)
He has secured over £10m in research funding (RCUK, InnovateUK, Samsung, Bosch) and supervised 26 PhD students. His lab group explores functional materials for energy storage and conversion.
