معرفی
Steve Pedrini is a Researcher at Edith Cowan University (ECU), affiliated with the School of Medical and Health Sciences. He holds a Doctor of Philosophy (2023) and a Master of Science in Biology (Italy, 1997). His research focuses on biomarkers in Alzheimer’s Disease and Dementia, with a particular emphasis on blood-based diagnostic and prognostic markers. Pedrini has led and collaborated on multiple research projects, including grants from organizations like the National Foundation for Medical Research and Innovation and the Australian Alzheimer’s Research Foundation.
Key research interests include neurofilament biomarkers, plasma protein classifiers, and the role of lipoproteins in Alzheimer’s pathology. His work spans diagnostic tool development, longitudinal cohort studies (e.g., AIBL), and translational applications of biomarker discoveries. Pedrini currently serves as an Associate Supervisor for two Doctor of Philosophy students: one validating ultrasensitive GFAP assays and another investigating prognostic biomarkers for childhood dementia.
Major grants include $2.185M from the Australian Alzheimer’s Research Foundation (2022–2025) and $250K from the National Foundation for Medical Research and Innovation (2023–2025) for neurofilament biomarker analysis. His research bridges clinical and basic science, with contributions to understanding amyloid-β, tau, and glial markers in Alzheimer’s progression.
