Lidija Milicic is a Lecturer and Research Assistant at the School of Medical and Health Sciences, Edith Cowan University. She holds a Doctor of Philosophy (2024) and a Bachelor of Science in Laboratory Medicine (2015). Her research focuses on Alzheimer’s disease mechanisms, epigenetic biomarkers, and genetic risk factors. Key projects include investigating DNA methylation changes in Alzheimer’s and developing biomarkers for early disease prediction.
Her work spans longitudinal studies, polygenic risk scoring, and neuroimaging correlations. Notable contributions include studies on exercise interventions’ effects on Alzheimer’s-related genes and the SPON1 gene’s role in amyloid-β-related cognitive decline.
Milicic collaborates extensively with the Australian Imaging, Biomarkers and Lifestyle (AIBL) Study, contributing to large-scale cohort analyses. Her research emphasizes translating genetic insights into clinical applications for Alzheimer’s prevention and diagnosis.
