Dr. Prashant Bharadwaj is a Research Fellow in Neuroscience at Edith Cowan University (ECU) and an Adjunct Research Fellow at Curtin University. He holds a PhD from ECU and specializes in Alzheimer’s disease, autophagy, and neuroprotective strategies. His research focuses on amyloid beta proteins, neurodegenerative mechanisms, and therapeutic interventions. He has been recognized with the NHMRC-ARC Dementia Research Development Fellowship (2016–2022) and a CSIRO travel award.
Education: PhD (Edith Cowan University, 2011), Master of Biotechnology (Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, 2007), Bachelor of Engineering (India, 2004).
Research interests include Alzheimer’s pathogenesis, autophagy modulation, and biomarker discovery. Recent work explores polyphenol-rich Sorghum bicolor as a complementary therapy and investigates the role of amylin and beta amyloid interactions. Dr. Bharadwaj has authored over 30 peer-reviewed articles, with contributions to understanding autophagy’s role in amyloid clearance and disease progression.
Grants include $640,220 for neuroprotective autophagy research and $250,000 for neurofilament biomarker analysis. He supervises three PhD students as Principal Investigator and collaborates on projects targeting childhood dementia and neuroinflammation.
