معرفی
Ralph Martins is a Professor and Foundation Chair in Aging and Alzheimer’s Disease at Edith Cowan University (ECU), located at the Joondalup campus. He holds adjunct professorships at the University of Western Australia and Thomas Jefferson University’s Farber Neurosciences Institute. His research focuses on Alzheimer’s disease mechanisms, particularly amyloid-β and oxidative stress. He leads the Sir James McCusker Alzheimer’s Research Unit at Hollywood Hospital and directs the state-funded Centre of Excellence for Alzheimer’s Disease Research and Care, collaborating with multiple institutions.
Martins earned his PhD in 1986 from the University of Western Australia and has held roles at institutions including Melbourne University, the University of Western Australia, and Indonesia’s Universitas Peila Harapan. He has received awards such as the Excellence in Teaching Award (2002) and a Biotechnology Innovation Fund Grant (2002). His work spans clinical neurology, molecular biology, and translational research, emphasizing biomarkers and therapeutic interventions.
Key research interests include amyloid-β pathogenesis, tau protein dynamics, neuroinflammation, and dietary interventions. His studies explore plasma and retinal biomarkers, cognitive assessment tools (e.g., MoCA-VI), and lifestyle factors like diet and exercise. Collaborative projects address early diagnosis, neurodegenerative mechanisms, and multidomain prevention strategies.
