Dr. Pratishtha Chatterjee is an Honorary Senior Research Fellow at Macquarie Medical School, Macquarie University. Her research focuses on biomarkers for neurodegenerative diseases, particularly Alzheimer's disease and related dementias. She leads projects investigating plasma biomarkers for early disease detection and the relationship between sleep disorders and neurodegeneration. Key collaborations include work with the Dominantly Inherited Alzheimer Network (DIAN) and the McCusker KARVIAH cohort.
Her research integrates metabolomics, proteomics, and clinical neuroimaging to identify novel biomarkers of disease progression. Notable projects include studies on acylcarnitine metabolites linked to tau pathology and sclerostin's role in amyloid-β accumulation. She has contributed to over 50 peer-reviewed publications and actively collaborates with international research groups in neurology and geriatric medicine.
Current projects include:
- Biomarker validation in preclinical Alzheimer's cohorts
- Sleep apnoea's impact on brain clearance mechanisms
- Evaluation of CocoMCT dietary interventions
- Multidomain dementia risk reduction strategies
Her work bridges basic neuroscience with translational clinical research, emphasizing early intervention strategies for neurodegenerative disorders.
