Stephen Wester

Stephen R. Wester is a Professor of Educational Psychology at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee’s School of Education. He holds a PhD in Counseling Psychology from the University of Florida and is a licensed psychologist in Wisconsin. His research focuses on male gender role socialization, masculinity, and barriers to help-seeking, particularly among men of color and men in professions like law enforcement. He has authored over 60 peer-reviewed articles and co-edited books on men’s psychology. Wester’s honors include the 2006 APA Division 51 Researcher of the Year award and Fellowships in both Division 51 (Men and Masculinity) and Division 17 (Counseling Psychology).
