Stephen Roper is a Professor of Enterprise at Warwick Business School and founding Director of the Enterprise Research Centre (ERC). He co-directs the Innovation and Research Caucus (IRC) and serves as a co-investigator in the ESRC-funded Productivity Institute, where he leads a major project on workplace mental health and productivity. With over 30 years of experience, he has led 80+ externally funded projects and advised UK governments, the OECD, and the World Bank.
- Research Focus: Innovation policy, enterprise growth, productivity, workplace well-being, and policy evaluation.
- Global Impact: Projects in Austria, Abu Dhabi, Mexico, Israel, Colombia, Poland, Canada, and Ireland.
Publication Trends: Recent work examines digitalization vs. net zero innovation in SMEs, mental health interventions in organizations, and regional innovation policy complementarities. Earlier research spans biopharma strategies, gender finance gaps, and SME growth ambitions.
