معرفی
Stephen Phillips is an Honorary Senior Research Fellow at the University of Glasgow's School of Biodiversity, One Health & Veterinary Medicine. His work focuses on parasitic diseases such as leishmaniasis and malaria, with an emphasis on vaccine development, immunological mechanisms, and drug attenuation strategies. He has published extensively on topics including Leishmania infantum vaccine trials in dogs, immunological responses to parasitic infections, and the role of hemozoin in malaria-induced immune suppression.
Research interests span parasitology, immunology, and veterinary medicine, with particular attention to cellular immunity, Th1/Th2 balance, and vaccine efficacy. Phillips has collaborated on studies analyzing mononuclear cell subpopulations in vaccinated dogs and proteomic changes in attenuated parasites. His work also addresses epidemiological factors in parasitic infections, such as socioeconomic influences in rural communities.
Notable contributions include investigating gentamicin-attenuated Leishmania strains for canine vaccines and elucidating the impact of Plasmodium infections on dendritic cell function. His publications consistently highlight interdisciplinary approaches to combatting parasitic diseases, merging clinical, immunological, and genomic perspectives.
