Stephen Peters is a Faculty Lecturer in the Department of Integrated Studies in Education (DISE) at McGill University’s Faculty of Education. His work focuses on teacher education, communication in education, and Indigenous education partnerships. He holds a PhD in Educational Studies from McGill University.
From 2018 to 2024, Peters contributed to the Office of First Nations and Inuit Education, collaborating with Indigenous education bodies like Kativik Ilisarniliriniq, the Cree School Board, and the Mohawk Language Custodian Association to develop in-community teacher education programs. He currently teaches communication-focused courses in the DISE department.
Awarded the 2018 ARNA Social Justice in Education Award, his research and practice emphasize social justice and Indigenous education. He is Co-Director of the iMPACTS initiative but is not currently accepting new graduate students.
