Stephen Mustchin

Stephen Mustchin is Senior Lecturer in Employment Relations at Alliance Manchester Business School, University of Manchester, and member of the Work and Equalities Institute. His research analyzes industrial relations transformations, labor standards enforcement, and regional employment policies.

Current projects examine public procurement's impact on employment conditions, trade union strategies in construction and postal services, and devolution's effect on labor markets in Greater Manchester. Recent publications quantify strike wave patterns and critique official labor statistics methodologies.

Collaborates with healthcare unions, local governments, and the Trades Union Congress (TUC) on research informing fair work initiatives. Leads studies on worker representation in digital platforms and regulatory responses to vulnerable employment.
