Professor Jane Holgate is a faculty member in the People, Work and Employment Department at Leeds University Business School, University of Leeds. Her expertise spans industrial relations, work and employment dynamics, inequality, migration, and trade union strategies. She holds a PhD from Queen Mary, University of London, and has extensive experience in research on marginalized worker groups and labor market inclusion.

Her research focuses on migrant workers, BME communities, and intersectionality in labor markets. Notable projects include EU-funded studies on ethnic minorities in London’s audio-visual industries and ESRC grants examining community alliances and workplace equality. She has collaborated with unions like GMB, CWU, and TUC.
Funded research includes a £327k ESRC project on ethnic minority representation at work and a £97k study comparing community organizing in London/Sydney. She actively supervises PhD students in these areas.
