Stephen M. King, Ph.D., is a Professor of Government & Criminal Justice at Regent University, where he has held roles including Department Chairman and Director of the MPA Program. He earned his Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Missouri-Columbia (1990). His teaching focuses on Public Administration, Ethics in Leadership, and American Government. Dr. King’s research explores ethical leadership, religion’s role in politics, spirituality in the workplace, and public policy analysis. He has authored/co-authored four influential books and numerous articles, including Ethical Public Leadership (2023) and Administration in the Public Interest (2009).
His administrative roles include Associate Dean of Academics (Patrick Henry College/Taylor University) and Research Vice President at the Public Interest Institute. He serves on executive councils for the American Society of Public Administration (ASPA), including leadership in Hampton Roads Chapter and the Section on Ethics and Integrity in Government. Recognized for his scholarship, he received the Wolfgang Pindaur Award (2023) and Regent Faculty Scholarship Award (2023).
Dr. King’s professional service includes a 2021 C-SPAN invitation to participate in its presidential survey. Beyond academia, he has pastored churches, founded Stephen King Ministries, and served as a licensed minister. His interdisciplinary work bridges political theory, ethics, and public administration, emphasizing Judeo-Christian principles in governance.
