Sam S. Gaston is a Practitioner-in-Residence in the Master of Public Administration (MPA) Program at Regent University's Robertson School of Government. With a career spanning decades, he has served as city manager of Mountain Brook, Alabama since 1993. Gaston previously held roles as adjunct professor at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (1999-2014), chair of the National Advisory Board for Regent University's MPA Program, and leadership positions in the International City-County Management Association (ICMA) and the Alabama City-County Management Association.
- Education: MPA in Public Administration from Auburn University at Montgomery; undergraduate degree in Public Administration from Auburn University.
His research and teaching focus on city/county management, public administration leadership, and ethics. His work intersects governance, urban planning, and policy implementation, informed by his extensive practical experience in municipal leadership.
