Abraham David Benavides is a Professor of Public and Nonprofit Management at the University of Texas at Dallas (UT Dallas), affiliated with the School of Economic, Political and Policy Sciences. He holds a Ph.D. in Urban and Public Affairs from Cleveland State University (2002), an MPA from Brigham Young University (1994), and a BA in International Relations from George Washington University (1987).
His research focuses on public administration challenges including cultural competency, social equity, ethics, immigration policy, emergency management, urban governance, and age-friendly policies. Notable areas include climate governance frameworks, local government responsiveness, and Latin American public administration dynamics.
Recent publications include contributions to Climate Governance an International and Comparative Perspective (2024), addressing global climate challenges, and analyses on pandemic response strategies during the 2020-2021 crisis.
