He holds a PhD in Pharmacology from University of Tennessee and completed postdoctoral training at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Lanier has held leadership positions including Vice President for Research at Wayne State and Chief Scientific Officer at Medical University of South Carolina.
His research focuses on mechanisms of drug action, cell signaling pathways, and G-protein mediated cell regulation in health and disease. He has made significant contributions to understanding structural heterogeneity of adrenergic receptors and discovering Activators of G-protein signaling.
Dr. Lanier has mentored numerous trainees through NIH-funded programs including T32 HL07260 and P20 RR018766. His work explores genomic platforms for developing therapeutic interventions targeting signal transduction networks.
