Stephen Fisher is a Senior Lecturer in Drama and Performance at the Faculty of Business and Creative Industries, with a strong affiliation to the Creative Industries Research and Innovation Group. He holds a BA Honours in Drama and English Literature from Swansea University and brings extensive professional experience as a theatre director, performer, and artistic director into his academic practice.

His research and artistic work centers on physical theatre, new writing, and the work of Welsh and Wales-based playwrights. He has a deep commitment to applied theatre and role-play, particularly in professional training contexts such as healthcare and government. As artistic director of f.a.b. theatre, he has produced and directed numerous world and Welsh premieres, emphasizing original and socially engaged performance.
The two recent research outputs reflect his practice-based research approach, blending performance with educational innovation—particularly in simulation and creative community building. His work spans theatre, film, television, and radio, including BBC productions and international touring.
Stephen Fisher is a founding member of Volcano Theatre Company and the only original member to perform in all early productions, which toured across Europe. His performance credits include roles with major UK theatre companies and appearances on BBC’s The One Show and X-Ray.
