Stephen Farrier is Deputy Principal and an academic at Rose Bruford College, specializing in queer performance, popular performance forms, and research ethics. His work emphasizes marginalized narratives and queer visibility. He holds a PhD from the University of North London and has supervised numerous PhD students in gender, sexuality, and queer studies. His research explores ethics in performance, queer dramaturgy, and the intersection of queer identity with popular culture.
Farrier’s academic qualifications include a PhD, MA in Modern Drama Studies, and BA in Humanities. He is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and actively contributes to sector roles like Chair of the Conservatoires UK Research Ethics Committee. He has served as an external examiner for PhD and undergraduate programs at institutions like the University of Toronto and University of Melbourne.
His research interests span queer performance ethics, drag historiography, and intergenerational queer temporalities. He collaborates with international theatre companies like WreckedALLprods and advises on projects such as Wretched Theatre.
