Rachel Clements is a Lecturer in Drama, Theatre & Performance at the University of Manchester, specializing in Postwar British theatre, playwriting, and contemporary performance. She holds a PhD from Royal Holloway (University of London) and degrees from the University of Oxford and UCL. Her research explores spectrality, absence, and political dimensions in theatre, with projects on Robert Holman, Sarah Kane's Cleansed, and agit-prop in austerity Britain. She collaborates with institutions like the Royal Exchange Theatre and TaPRA. Clements has editorial roles at New Theatre Quarterly and contributed to Methuen Drama editions of plays by Joe Penhall and Lucy Prebble. Her teaching focuses on creative writing and dramaturgy, including roles in the MA Playwriting program.
