Stephanie Seveau is a Full Professor of Microbial Infection & Immunity at The Ohio State University. Her research focuses on bacterial pathogenesis, particularly the mechanisms of Listeria monocytogenes infection and the role of defensins in host defense. She holds a M.S. (1993) and Ph.D. (1997) from Pierre and Marie Curie University, followed by a postdoc at Weill Cornell Medical College (1998–2001).

Her research explores how Listeria monocytogenes invades host cells and evades immune responses, with a focus on the toxin listeriolysin O (LLO) and the role of defensins in neutralizing toxins and enhancing macrophage activity. She investigates placental immunity against infections and the molecular basis of bacterial pathogenesis.
Recent work includes studies on membrane repair mechanisms, the role of caspases in SARS-CoV-2 pathogenesis, and the protective effects of pregnancy on intracellular infections. Her lab uses advanced microscopy and genetic approaches to dissect host-pathogen interactions.
