Prof. Dr.-Ing. Stephan Pauleit is a Professor of Strategy and Management of Landscape Development at the Technical University of Munich (TUM) within the TUM School of Life Sciences. His work focuses on urban ecology, climate change adaptation, and sustainable urban planning. He holds a doctorate in Landscape Ecology from TUM and has held academic positions at the University of Manchester and University of Copenhagen before returning to TUM in 2009. He currently serves as Honorary Senior Research Fellow at the University of Manchester and Chairman of the Friends of Landscape Ecology Weihenstephan eV.
Research Interests: His research addresses urban green infrastructure, climate resilience, and sustainable development challenges such as food security and energy scarcity. Recent work emphasizes urban heat stress mitigation through green space planning and multiscale climate adaptation strategies. He has contributed to international frameworks for incorporating ecological principles into urban development policies.
Awards: Recipient of the 1998 Prize of the City of Munich for outstanding theses at TUM.
