Prof. Dr. Kathrin Kiehl is a Professor of Vegetation Ecology and Botany at Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences, Faculty of Agricultural Sciences and Landscape Architecture. She specializes in restoration ecology, urban biodiversity, and climate change adaptation. Her research focuses on restoring degraded ecosystems, enhancing biodiversity in urban areas, and optimizing agricultural landscapes.
Education: PhD (1997) and Habilitation (2006) in Vegetation Ecology from Kiel University and TU Munich. She has held roles including Researcher at the National Institute of Environmental Research (Denmark) and Danish University of Lund.
Research Interests: Urban greening, restoration of industrial sites, climate-resilient cities, and native plant species usage in green infrastructure. Her work bridges ecological science with practical applications in urban planning and agriculture.
Publications highlight innovative methods for green roofs, urban restoration, and biodiversity strategies. Key projects include RegioProD (regional wildflower strips) and OSNATÜRLICH (urban biodiversity strategy for Osnabrück).
