Stephan A. Kohlhoff

Stephan A. Kohlhoff is an Associate Professor in Pediatrics and Medicine at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University, specializing in Pediatric Infectious Diseases. He is actively involved in clinical and research initiatives focused on chlamydial infections, pediatric HIV, and antimicrobial stewardship.

• Education: MD from Freie Universitaet Berlin, residency at Otto-von-Guericke Universitaet, and SUNY Downstate, followed by a fellowship at SUNY Downstate.

Research interests include the epidemiology and pathophysiology of Chlamydia infections, infectious triggers of asthma, and antimicrobial resistance. His work spans in vitro susceptibility studies, seroepidemiology, and immune response analyses.

Recent publications focus on antibiotic development, diagnostic testing for Chlamydia, and HIV outcomes in perinatally infected populations. He contributes to clinical trials like the Pediatric HIV/AIDS Cohort Study (PHACS) SMARTT study and IMPAACT P1025 Protocol.
