معرفی
Steffen Schlüter is a Senior Lecturer and Working Group Leader in the Department of Soil Systems Research at the Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research - UFZ. He holds a PD Dr. (Privatdozent) title from Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg. His academic career includes roles such as Humboldt Fellow and Postdoc at UFZ, and he has led projects funded by DFG, Helmholtz, and BMBF.
Education: PhD in Soil Physics (2012) from MLU Halle-Wittenberg; Diploma in Geography (2008) from TU Dresden; Habilitation in Soil Sciences (2019) from MLU Halle-Wittenberg.
Research focuses on soil structure, X-ray CT imaging, pore-scale fluid dynamics, and denitrification processes. Key projects include GLIMPSE (2022-2025), Rhizo4Bio (2023-2025), and Soil Structure Turnover (2019-2028). He has pioneered methods for quantifying soil functions using correlative imaging and 3D modeling.
Recent articles highlight advancements in soil carbon dynamics, microbial heat release, and deep learning for soil constituent analysis. Awards include the Fritz-Scheffer Awardee 2020 for innovative root-soil interaction research.
Advises PhD students including Mengqi Wu and oversees grants totaling €3.5M. Leads the Soil Structure Library, an open-access 3D image archive of soil structures. Collaborates internationally on soil structure modeling and environmental sustainability.
