معرفی
Prof. Dr. Doris Vetterlein is a leading academic in soil and plant sciences, holding concurrent roles as a Professor at Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg (MLU) and Senior Scientist at the Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research (UFZ). Her research focuses on rhizosphere dynamics, soil-plant interactions, and root system plasticity, with applications to sustainable agriculture and environmental remediation. She leads the Soil Systems Research Department at UFZ and chairs the DFG Priority Programme SPP2089 on rhizosphere processes.
Key Roles: Spokesperson of DFG SPP2089 (2018–present), Vice President of the German Soil Science Society (2022–present), and Head of the International Rhizosphere Committee. She also chairs the Senate Commission on Agricultural and Food Systems Transformation.
Research Interests: Includes arsenic bioavailability, root-induced soil heterogeneity, and soil structure modeling. Her work spans field experiments, climate chamber studies, and advanced imaging techniques (e.g., X-ray tomography).
Education: Agricultural Sciences-Biology (University of Hohenheim, 1983–1989), Habilitation in Soil Science (MLU, 1999–2004). Extensive postdoctoral and industry experience in soil restoration and plant nutrition.
Grants & Projects: Led multiple DFG-funded initiatives, including the Helmholtz University Young Investigators Group BASS (2004–2009). Current projects include P-SPACE (eutrophication modeling) and ORDIAMUR (root system research).
Labs/Teams: Oversees the Soil Systems Research team at UFZ, collaborating with institutions globally. Supervises doctoral candidates in rhizosphere biology and sustainable land use.
