Stefano MICOSSI is an Honorary Professor at the College of Europe (since 2016) in the Department of European Economic Studies. Previously, he served as a Visiting Professor there from 1990–1994 and 1999–2016. He holds a Law degree from the University of Milan, an MA (1973), and M.Phil (1974) in Economics from Yale University. His current roles include Director General of Assonime (since 1999), Board Member at Unicredit (since 2018), and President of the LUISS School of European Political Economy (since 2013). He is also a founding member of EuropEos, an association promoting European integration.

His research focuses on macroeconomics, international economics, and European policy, with extensive publications in economic journals. He authored influential policy briefs on financial crises, emphasizing regulatory frameworks and banking sector reforms.
Micossi’s career includes roles as Director General of Industry at the European Commission (1995–1998), Director of Confindustria’s Studies Centre (1988–1994), and economist at the Bank of Italy (1972–1978). He has advised institutions like the IMF, European Monetary Committee, and Italy’s financial regulators.
