Marek Lusztyn serves as Assistant Professor at the Institute of Banking of the Warsaw School of Economics since 2021. He combines his academic position with an active executive career in banking, currently serving as Deputy Chairman of the Management Board and Chief Risk Officer at mBank S.A. since 2020.
His educational background includes a Doctorate in Economics from the Warsaw School of Economics, an Executive MBA from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and the University of Warsaw, and a bachelor's degree in Computer Science and Engineering. He is also an alumnus of INSEAD with additional training from Stanford Graduate School of Business, SDA Bocconi, and Singularity University.
Dr. Lusztyn specializes in comprehensive banking risk management including market, liquidity, credit and operational risk domains. His research also encompasses bank management, institutional conditions of banking activity, security of the banking system, and organization of banking supervision.

- 2000-2008: Lecturer at Warsaw Institute of Banking in risk management and financial derivatives
With 25 years of banking industry experience, his professional journey includes executive positions at Bank Pekao S.A. (part of UniCredit Group from 1999-2017) where he served as CEO and Chief Risk Officer (2017-2020), and held senior risk management roles at UniCredit SpA in London, Munich and Milan (2008-2017).
