معرفی
Stefan Agewall is a Visiting Professor of Cardiovascular Science at Karolinska Institutet (since November 2023) and a Professor of Cardiology at Oslo University (since 2006). He is affiliated with the Department of Clinical Sciences at Danderyd Hospital. His research focuses on the cardiovascular impacts of climate change, particularly temperature fluctuations and air pollution’s role in myocardial infarction. He has published over 400 articles, holds an H-index of 84, and serves as Editor-in-Chief of the European Heart Journal-Cardiovascular Pharmacotherapy. He has held roles in ESC committees, including chairmanship of the ESC Working Group on Cardiovascular Pharmacotherapy. Notably, he was listed as a Clarivate Most Cited Researcher in 2020.
- Education: Docent (higher doctorate) in Cardiology.
Research Interests: Agewall’s work examines how environmental factors like temperature changes and air pollution influence cardiovascular health. His team analyzes large datasets from Sweden’s SWEDEHEART registry and the SMHI to explore preventive strategies for heart attack patients. Key areas include drug efficacy under varying environmental conditions and patient-specific risk mitigation.
Publications: His articles span climate-cardiovascular links, pharmacotherapy, and diagnostic imaging. Recent work includes studies on temperature-driven myocardial infarction risks and clinical trials evaluating antiplatelet therapies.
- Awards: Clarivate’s Most Cited Researchers (2020).
Grants & Teams: He leads grants such as the MINOCA-BAT trial (Swedish Research Council) and Regional Networks for Heart Failure Research. Collaborations include multi-institutional projects on biomarkers and structural sick-leave programs for post-MI patients. His lab integrates epidemiology, clinical cardiology, and environmental science to address global health challenges.
