Stanley Reiter (1925–2014) was a Professor of Economics, Mathematics, and Managerial Economics & Decision Sciences at Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management and held a joint appointment in the Department of Economics at the Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences. He retired in 2007 and was honored as professor emeritus. He earned his PhD in economics from the University of Chicago and previously taught at Purdue University (1954–1967).
His research focused on applying mathematical methods to economic theory, mechanism design, and operations research. He coauthored influential works like Designing Economic Mechanisms (2006) with Leonid Hurwicz. He founded the Center for Mathematical Studies in Economics and Management Science (1971), fostering interdisciplinary research across Northwestern.
