Stacy Payne Martin

Dr. Stacy Payne Martin serves as the Middle Level Education Program Director and Assistant Professor in the College of Education, Sport, and Human Sciences at Winthrop University. Additionally, she holds the role of NCAA Faculty Athletic Representative, advocating for academic integrity and student-athlete well-being within NCAA Division I frameworks.

Her educational background includes an Ed.D., M.Ed., and B.A. in Education from the University of South Carolina. Her research and teaching focus on middle level education, multicultural education, adolescent development, and culturally responsive teaching methodologies. She is also the president of the South Carolina Professors of Middle Level Education, further highlighting her commitment to the field.

Prior to academia, Dr. Martin spent over 28 years in education, including roles as a middle school teacher, administrator, and principal. She transitioned to teaching and supervising at Winthrop in 2015. Beyond professional responsibilities, she enjoys recreational activities like golf and paddleboarding.
