Stacy A. Kahn is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at Harvard Medical School and an Attending Physician in the Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition at Boston Children’s Hospital. She serves as Director of the Fecal Microbiota Transplantation Program and previously founded the Transitional IBD Clinic at the University of Chicago. Her clinical expertise focuses on inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), particularly in adolescents and young adults with Crohn’s and colitis, and recurrent Clostridium difficile infections. Dr. Kahn is a national leader in fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT), performing the first pediatric colonoscopic FMT and leading the development of the first national pediatric FMT registry.
Education: MD from New York University School of Medicine (2001). Completed pediatric residency and gastroenterology fellowship at the University of Chicago, with an ethics fellowship at the Maclean Center for Clinical Medical Ethics. Undergraduate degree in history from Washington University in St. Louis, followed by post-baccalaureate training at Bryn Mawr College.
Research interests include FMT efficacy in IBD and C. difficile, transitional care for IBD patients, and research ethics. Her work bridges clinical practice, microbiome science, and ethical considerations in pediatric gastroenterology. She actively contributes to guidelines for pediatricians on FMT and medical documentation practices.
