Athos Bousvaros

Athos Bousvaros, MD, MPH is a Professor of Pediatrics at Harvard Medical School and Vice Chair of Clinical Operations in the Department of Pediatrics at Boston Children's Hospital. With over 25 years of clinical experience, he specializes in treating complex cases of Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) in children, focusing on microbiome research, novel therapies, and immune responses to vaccines.

• Education: MD from Duke University School of Medicine (1985), MPH from Harvard School of Public Health

His research spans IBD pathogenesis, microbiome interventions, and clinical trial design. Recent work examines anti-TNF therapies, fecal microbiota transplantation, and genetic biomarkers in Crohn's disease. He has authored over 100 publications and led national initiatives to improve pediatric IBD care.
