Dr. Stacie L. Finley is an Assistant Professor of Literacy at Missouri State University (MSU) within the College of Education. She actively collaborates with Mark Twain Elementary through a partnership that integrates theoretical knowledge with practical classroom experience for MSU education majors. Her work emphasizes literacy instruction, competency-based learning (CBL), and teacher preparation.
Research Interests: Dr. Finley specializes in literacy education, focusing on bridging academic theory with real-world teaching practices. Her efforts include designing programs where preservice teachers engage directly with elementary students through one-on-one tutoring and pen pal projects, enhancing their readiness for professional classrooms.
The partnership between MSU and Mark Twain Elementary, co-founded by Dr. Finley, provides early and frequent classroom exposure for students, surpassing state requirements through 130-hour internships. This initiative also benefits Twain’s community by offering personalized student support and teacher professional development opportunities.
