Srikanth (Chicu) Reddy is a Professor in the Department of English and affiliated with the Program in Creative Writing at the University of Chicago. He holds a Ph.D. from Harvard University (2008) and an M.F.A. from the University of Iowa (2000). His work bridges poetry, literary criticism, and editorial roles, focusing on modern American poetry, transnational literature, and Asian American writing. He serves as Series Editor for the Phoenix Poets series at the University of Chicago Press and Poetry Editor for The Paris Review.
His research explores interdisciplinary boundaries, such as the course "Picturing Words/Writing Images" co-taught with sculptor Jessica Stockholder. Recent publications include Underworld Lit (2020) and The Unsignificant (2024), both praised for innovative form and content. His critical work, including Changing Subjects (2012), examines digressive poetics in modernity. Awards include a Guggenheim Fellowship and NEA support.
Teaching spans creative writing and literary studies, emphasizing publishing practices and aesthetic judgment. Upcoming courses will further explore critical/creative intersections. His editorial work and lectures, such as the Bagley Wright Lectures (2015), reflect his commitment to poetry’s role as an 'affective technology.'
