Sara Deniz Akant is a Professor of the Practice at Tufts University, specializing in poetry and creative writing. She is the author of three award-winning poetry collections: Hyperphantasia (2022), Babette (2015), and Parades (2014). Her work has received acclaim including the Massachusetts Book Award in Poetry and recognition from the New York Times and Boston Globe.
Her research and creative interests focus on poetry's intersection with performance art, pedagogy, and contemporary literary practices. She co-curates the Kan Yama Kan reading series in Brooklyn, fostering literary community engagement.
