Vincent Toro is an Assistant Professor in the Department of English at Rider University, specializing in poetry, playwriting, and Latinx literature. A Puerto Rican poet and playwright, his creative work has received numerous national awards and fellowships.
Creative publications include the poetry collections Stereo.Island.Mosaic. (recipient of the Sawtooth Poetry Prize and Poetry Society of America's Norma Farber First Book Award) and Tertulia (finalist for the Omnidawn Poetry Prize). His theatrical works have been staged at the Spanish Repertory Theater.
Research focuses on contemporary poetry, Latinx literary traditions, and multidisciplinary performance. Toro has collaborated with artists including Grammy-winning jazz musician Christian McBride and has performed internationally in Spain, Argentina, and England.
