معرفی
Srdjan Darmanović is a Professor of Comparative Politics at the University of Montenegro and serves as a member of the Council of Europe’s Venice Commission. He previously held diplomatic roles including Montenegro’s Ambassador to the United States (2010-2016) and Foreign Minister-designate (2016). His research focuses on Balkan politics, democratization processes, nationalism, and electoral systems. Darmanović has published extensively on Montenegro’s independence process, regional stability, and post-conflict governance.
His academic work examines Montenegro’s peaceful separation from Serbia, the challenges of state-building in small Balkan republics, and the region’s evolving relationship with European integration. He has contributed to understanding ethnic conflict resolution mechanisms and the role of external actors in Balkan politics.
Recent publications analyze the 2016 Balkan elections’ implications for regional stability, while earlier works explore Montenegro’s path to independence and the dilemmas of small state governance. Darmanović’s scholarship bridges academic analysis with policy-oriented research, reflecting his dual career in academia and diplomacy.
