Miroslav Lajčák is a Part-time Professor at the Florence School of Transnational Governance, European University Institute. His career spans extensive diplomatic roles, including serving as Slovakia’s Minister of Foreign and European Affairs (2009–2010, 2012–2020) and EU Special Representative for the Belgrade-Pristina Dialogue until February 2025. He mediated post-conflict crises in the Western Balkans, notably overseeing Bosnia and Herzegovina’s 2005 Stabilization and Association Agreement with the EU. From 2017–2018, he was President of the UN General Assembly, and Chairperson-in-Office of the OSCE in 2019.
His expertise focuses on regional diplomacy, conflict resolution, and EU enlargement processes. He has held diplomatic posts in Japan, the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, Albania, and Macedonia. Lajčák’s work emphasizes stabilizing post-conflict regions and fostering European integration.
