Soumya Chakravarty

Soumya Chakravarty, MD, PhD, FACP, FACR, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine at Drexel University College of Medicine. His expertise spans rheumatology, immunology, and infectious diseases, with a focus on autoimmune disorders and their pathogenic mechanisms. He completed his MD/PhD at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, followed by residency at New York Presbyterian Hospital and fellowships at Hospital for Special Surgery.

Dr. Chakravarty’s research explores rheumatic fever, kinase inhibitors in arthritis, and drug-induced immune responses. Notable contributions include work on streptococcal triggers of autoimmunity and mechanisms of cytokine signaling in macrophages. His clinical interests include endocrine-related rheumatic conditions and sarcoidosis.

He has received prestigious awards such as the ACR/RRF Scientist Development Award (2012–2014) and travel grants to major rheumatology conferences. His publications bridge basic immunology with clinical rheumatology, emphasizing translational research.
