Shudan Wang, M.D., M.S., is an Associate Professor in the Department of Medicine (Rheumatology) at Albert Einstein College of Medicine and an attending physician at Montefiore Medical Center. She specializes in lupus, lupus-related kidney disease, and other rheumatologic conditions such as antiphospholipid syndrome, rheumatoid arthritis, and vasculitis. Her research focuses on the role of the complement system in lupus nephritis, supported by NIH KL2 and Rheumatology Research Foundation grants.
Dr. Wang graduated from McGill University (2009) and earned her M.D. from Rutgers New Jersey Medical School (2013). She completed residency at New York Presbyterian Hospital Cornell (2016) and a rheumatology fellowship at NYU Hospital (2018), followed by an M.S. in clinical research from Einstein (2021). She has published in high-impact journals like Lupus Science & Medicine and Osteoarthritis Cartilage, and serves on NIH and CDC study sections.
Her research integrates translational approaches such as immunohistochemistry and single-cell RNA sequencing to identify complement biomarkers. She leads patient recruitment for the Einstein Rheumatic Disease Registry and participates in lupus clinical trials. Awards include the American College of Rheumatology’s Distinguished Fellow designation (2018).
Dr. Wang’s clinical practice focuses on comprehensive rheumatology care at Montefiore Westchester. Her work bridges clinical and basic science, emphasizing personalized treatment strategies for autoimmune diseases.
