Sosena Solomon is a Lecturer in the Fine Arts Department at the University of Pennsylvania Stuart Weitzman School of Design and in the Media Studies and Production Department at Temple University’s School of Media and Communication. She holds a Master of Fine Arts in Social Documentary Film from the School of Visual Arts (New York) and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Television Production from Temple University. Her work focuses on documenting spaces of cultural transition through immersive visual storytelling and cinéma vérité techniques.
Notable projects include “Sole”, a PBS-premiered documentary on sneaker culture, and “MERKATO”, an international audio-visual installation exploring Ethiopia’s largest open-air market. She is a grant recipient of the Leeway Foundation Art and Change grant (2013) and the Transformation Award (2014).
As a freelancer, Solomon combines academic lecturing with commercial and nonprofit sector work, emphasizing cultural preservation through multimedia art. She has previously taught at the University of the Arts, Philadelphia.
