Jonathan Olshefski is an Associate Professor at Rowan University’s Ric Edelman College of Communication & Creative Arts, Department of Radio, TV, and Film, and serves as the New Media Minor Coordinator. His work bridges documentary filmmaking, photography, and interactive media to amplify marginalized voices.

His research and creative practice focus on long-term relational documentary projects that explore race, class, and community resilience through collaborative storytelling. His films employ vérité techniques, transmedia installations, and non-linear narratives to challenge stereotypes and foster empathy.
Olshefski’s recent work, Without Arrows, examines Lakota family dynamics and cultural preservation over 13 years. Earlier films like QUEST and Punk Rock Mommy document urban Philadelphia life, blending photography, digital archives, and interactive elements to create immersive social justice narratives.
