LeAnn Erickson is a Professor of film and video production at Temple University’s School of Theater, Film and Media Arts. She has been an independent filmmaker for over 30 years, with works showcased in international festivals and galleries. Her research interests span experimental video art, documentary filmmaking, and animation, particularly focusing on historical narratives and women’s contributions to technology. Notable works include Top Secret Rosies: The Female Computers of WWII (2010), distributed by PBS and featured on Netflix, and the interactive iBookApp The Computer Wore Heels (2012).
Her work has received grants from the National Endowment for the Arts, Jerome Foundation, and Leeway Foundation. Recent accolades include a Peaked Hill Trust residency (Cape Cod, MA) and a Temple University Summer Fellowship. Erickson’s films have screened at festivals such as Hot Docs (Toronto), Oberhausen Short Film Festival (Germany), and L’immagine Leggera (Italy).
Since 2010, she has led a national tour for Top Secret Rosies, which has screened at over 30 venues across the U.S. Her creative practice emphasizes interdisciplinary storytelling, blending historical documentation with innovative media formats.
