Soogand Alavi is an Assistant Professor in the Marketing Department at the Tippie College of Business, University of Iowa, with her primary office located in S374 Pappajohn Business Building. She joined the university as a Visiting Assistant Professor in 2023 and was promoted to Assistant Professor in 2024.
Her research spans Emerging Technologies, Social Media, Web3 and Blockchain, and AI and Machine Learning, focusing on digital innovation's intersection with consumer behavior. She investigates non-fungible tokens (NFTs), blockchain applications in marketing, and AI's impact on decision-making processes, particularly examining provenance effects in digital asset markets and human-AI interaction dynamics.
Dr. Alavi's recent publications reveal a concentrated focus on blockchain and AI-driven marketing phenomena. Her work analyzes NFT provenance mechanisms, AI recommender systems in music consumption, blockchain-based marketing automation, and AI's homogenizing effects on user-generated content. These studies collectively explore how emerging technologies reshape digital marketplaces, consumer trust frameworks, and political fundraising efficacy through social media platforms.
