He is also an Affiliate of the Harvard Center of Mathematical Sciences and Applications, an Associate of the Harvard Center for Research on Computation and Society, and a Research Economist at the National Bureau of Economic Research. Professor Kominers specializes in market design, developing economic analysis that provides practical solutions to real-world problems. His research spans matching markets, blockchain technology, Web3, NFTs, and inequality. He works at all stages of the economic design process—building underlying theory and technology, identifying new design applications, and working with practitioners to implement solutions to market failures. His recent book, The Everything Token: How NFTs and Web3 Will Transform the Way We Buy, Sell, and Create, explores the potential of NFTs in commerce and brand-building.
His recent publications show a strong trend toward blockchain applications, NFT market design, and the economic implications of Web3 technologies, while maintaining his foundational work in traditional market design and matching theory. His research increasingly bridges theoretical economics with practical marketplace applications, particularly in digital environments.
